Meet Mario! Mario came to the rescue when he was very young, but he’s 3 now. He was with us for a few months, we got him vetted and adopted out. Unfortunately he was returned due to no fault of his own. One of the adopters grandkids had a cat allergy, so they decided Mario wasn’t for them anymore. We’re going to be very selective with Mario’s new home. We want someone that is committed to him and will advocate for him, not toss him out for someone that doesn’t live in the home and only visits a few times a week. Moving into his new foster home has turned Mario’s world upside down. When he first came he was so scared and so stressed he didn’t know how to respond. As soon as his carrier opened he was crying and puking. He spent days just crying and hiding. He wanted love and comfort so bad he’d just come to his foster mom and lay at her feet crying and hissing out of pure fear. She was still able to love all over him through the hissing. It was just a fear reaction, he wouldn’t harm a soul.
In his previous home Mario was an only cat. Now though, Mario has many cat friends and is learning from them how to behave and be a cat really. He’s learning more about climbing and exploring. When we first got Mario he was really overweight too. He’s slimmed down a little and is becoming more active. He LOVES hidey holes in cat towers or even cubes he can just slink into. He also really likes climbing to be high up on top of things. It’s so cute. He patiently sits up high waiting for you to come pet him. Since Mario has adjusted, his love language is very clear. He is a quality time kind of guy. He just wants to be with you and know he has his best friend. He appreciates a warm place to curl up and just chill. He’s so easy going.
Sometimes when his foster mom walks in the room Mario comes running to her meowing. He has a very muted meow that’s just so adorable. Any time he wants to communicate with you he looks up at you with big eyes and starts chatting.
Mario also loves his toys and especially his scratchers! He’s so good about using his claws on the scratchers and towers and not furniture. He loves walking straight up to a good post, stretching out real big for attention, then going in with his claws.
One thing we find really interesting about Mario is he is really particular about his food. We’ve only found so far that he likes Waruva wet food.. We’ve tried so many different textures and brands and he just really isn’t into it. He appreciates dry food, and honestly he appreciates a high quality dry food. He deserves that though. Even though sometimes he skips on the wet food, he still always goes in for a churu.
We believe if you choose to adopt Mario you will experience nothing but happiness and joy. We feel he will certainly complete someone’s family. There may be an adjustment period and he may experience some stress, but that’s totally normal. This is a lot for a guy who’s only really known one home his whole life.
Mario has also very recently been to the vet and got a clean bill of health. He’s completely up to date on everything.
If you believe Mario is the guy for you, please submit an application and his foster mom will be in touch.
