UPDATE!!!!  Manny is doing excellent in his training, as you can see by his video and he is really ready to have his own home.  His manners are wonderful and he is so eager to please, he will be able to adjust easily to his new family!!
Manny could just as easily have been called "Hammy" as he is a big ham!  He's a good boy, but he's on the large side, so probably would be best in a home without small children as he could knock them down if he gets excited.  When he's not in such an energetic mood, he will just lay his big ol' head in your lap and soak up the love - for hours if you'd let him!  Manny is SUPER smart and is just waiting for someone to come along that will provide him with workouts that will challenge both his brain and his brawn.  He picks up commands extremely quickly and is eager to please, but he will need someone who can handle his size and his energy in the process.  Other dogs are fine but he'll do better with a female canine sibling than another male.  A kitty-free household for Manny would be best as well.

Manny is currently living on a small island in the Caribbean, under the care of the Animal Welfare group that works with Rose's Rescue.  The life of an island dog may sound footloose and fancy free, but in reality is very difficult and dangerous.  Manny is lucky that he has been taken in, since now he doesn't have to try to find his own food and fresh water and he also doesn't have to worry about his safety around other stray dogs.  Unfortunately other dogs aren't the only risk for island strays.  A local custom involves purposefully poisoning animals that some residents may call a nuisance.  Stray animals fall into this category as they are running loose and can go in anyone's yard, sometimes going to the bathroom there.  Sadly, this happens with some regularity to island dogs and cats, even those with owners that are allowed to run free.  This year has been a difficult one as a good number of dogs and cats, some with owners, have already lost their lives this way.

Life with an adopted island dog is one of the most rewarding experiences a pet owner can have.  They tend to be some of the most loyal, smart dogs out there, and witnessing their transition from street dog to family pet is a rewarding experience in itself.  Please consider helping Manny or one of his island brethren (Jet, Richard & Hobie).  If you would like more information, please feel free to contact us.  Thank you!
