Cookie
I adopted Novalee (who was originally dubbed Cookie) a couple of years ago. My personal companions had always been Golden Retrievers, but my son had a Jack Russell mix who was a lot of fun, so I took a chance on this Jack Russell. She got her new name because of her somewhat messy appearance. (I thought she looked like "trailer trash." LOL) Anyway she has been a hysterical addition to my family. When my granddaughter was born, she absolutely loved her as you can see by this picture. Novalee twirls like a ballerina for her treats, tears through the house at breakneck speed, pounds her little feet on the floor following me around. She would love to be friends with Jodi my cat, but Jodi just tolerates her. She is death to any rabbit that accidentally comes through the fence and doesn't get out fast enough and she had dragged moles from their holes to their final end! A bit of a high prey instinct in this girl! She is very verbal and will talk and give you a piece of her mind besides making sure everyone knows she is outside by barking at everyone and everything! Better watch your food and drinks, because she is also a bit of a thief! From day 1, she fit in quite well. She is a fun little dog, tolerant and gentle with people, and I am so happy I found her from Rose's Rescue.
Coda
I wanted to update everyone on Parker (nee Coda)! My husband and I adopted Parker in July of 2009, and he has made our house a home. Parker is our second dog, and we decided to adopt him because our other dog, Tessa, was nervous a lot and couldn’t be trusted outside of her crate when she was left alone. When she first met Parker, they smelled each other, hopped in the backseat of our car, and curled up together to take a nap. Since that day, they’ve become best friends. Parker even comes to Tessa’s rescue when other dogs try to bully her at the dog park! Thank you so much for the work you do and for giving us the opportunity to have such a perfect dog in our lives.
Callie - Cell Dog
Callie, a black lab from our cell dog program, was adopted not too long ago and her forever mom sent us this update to share:
Just wanted to update your Happy Tail on Callie. She and her brother Jet are best buddies. Jet definitely keeps an eye on her and loves having someone to wrestle and play chase with. I would like to thank the inmates for doing such a wonderful training job with her. Just two weeks after we adopted her, we were able to let her off leash in the park. As the pictures in the snow show, she and Jet have a great time chasing each other and wrestling. She is a very smart pup and we really enjoy having her. Jet did a wonderful job in picking her out for us! I'm so glad she was available when we needed her!
